AI transparency

Where AI appears, what reaches a provider, and where a person must stay in control.

Updated 1 October 2026

What AI can help with

Depending on the enabled feature, Ekadem can generate lessons, questions, flashcards, mind maps, explanations and examples; transform documents; transcribe or synthesize speech; search learning material; suggest formative feedback; and offer optional scoring support. AI features are labeled in context or evident from the request to generate.

What is sent

We send the user’s instruction and the smallest useful context—such as selected text, an uploaded page, an image or audio—to an approved gateway/model endpoint. A request can contain personal data if the user includes it. School routes must use an allowlisted provider, no-training terms and the shortest contracted retention. Operational records include provider/model, time, status and usage, but general usage analytics do not store prompt and response text.

Accuracy and human review

Generated material can be wrong, biased, outdated or unsuitable for a learner. Verify facts, sources, calculations and accessibility before use. Scoring suggestions do not become final grades by themselves. A qualified teacher must be able to see the relevant student work, disregard the output, correct the record and answer a challenge.

The progress indicator, and who sees it

For new school classes, AI scoring is enabled by default once the school’s required compliance checks and approval are in place. A school can turn it off per class or entirely. When enabled, turned-in work is evaluated automatically into a progress indicator: a percentage and colour that let a teacher see at a glance how someone is getting on. It exists so a teacher can spot who needs help without opening thirty submissions. It is an automated evaluation of a person’s performance, which data protection law calls profiling. It is probabilistic and can be wrong, incomplete, biased or misleading, especially where work is ambiguous, multilingual or inaccessible, so relying on it without human review creates a risk of unfair support or judgment.

  • It is not a grade and never becomes one. Grading is the teacher’s act.
  • It goes to the teachers of that class and to school staff with teacher access. The student it describes is not shown it, and neither are their classmates.
  • It is not placed in a report, transcript or school record, and cannot be exported.
  • It never groups, ranks, levels, advances or flags a student, and is not sent to parents.
  • Feedback written for a student, such as writing coaching, is a separate feature, labeled as AI-generated, and visible only to that student.

Teachers must review the underlying work, disregard or correct an indicator, and respond to a challenge. Students may ask a teacher to explain or disregard an indicator.

Uses Ekadem does not permit

  • emotion recognition in education;
  • social scoring or manipulative exploitation of children;
  • unlawful biometric categorization or sensitive-trait inference;
  • solely automated admission, placement, final grade, discipline, special-education or access decisions;
  • general-purpose model training on school data; or
  • targeted advertising or unrelated commercial profiles from school data.

Provider and regional limits

The provider list is the Subprocessor Schedule. The default service runs on Cloudflare and supports school-specific AI provider choices. Whenever TensorX is selected, requests remain with TensorX; unavailable capabilities or models produce an unavailable feature, never a fallback to OpenRouter or another AI provider. AI response caches are separated by provider.

Schools may request a separate installation using Hetzner, Clerk and TensorX. Hosting, backups, inference, identity and support locations are reviewed separately and recorded in the school’s agreements. Provider support in code is not proof of a completed DPA or an EU-only boundary for every service.

Questions and challenges

Students should ask their teacher to review an output. Schools can disable AI or scoring and request documentation for a DPIA/AI impact assessment. Report harmful or incorrect behavior to hello@ekadem.com; privacy questions go to privacy@ekadem.com.
